MARCUS DE LEÓN 1935 - 2024 |

We celebrate the life of Marc de Leon, Sr., President of Alexander Henry Fabrics, Inc.
Marc came to textiles in the 1960s when he began working with Alexander, Henry and Janina Lauterbach. Under the generous leadership of the Lauterbach family of Central Textile, Marc began designing the AH collection in the 1970s with Henry. Marc carried on the aesthetic tradition of the Supergraphic and fed the surfer jam craze with colorful tropical designs. After the Lauterbach’s retirement in the 1990s, Marc founded the DeLeon Design Group and continued designing the Alexander Henry Fabrics collection with his children, Phillip and Nicole, and with their studio created wonderfully illustrative conversational designs that have been their trademark for over thirty years.
Together with Marcus Jr, Phillip & Nicole, Marc designed and furnished two dynamic office spaces that their business has called home. Marc was a true Renaissance man: a talented wood worker and builder, draftsman, chef, an expert colorist, sewist and collector. If Marc was in the room, he was the best dressed every time. Marc Sr. is survived by his three children and wife of 65 years, Barbara, as well as his five loving grandchildren. Marc was the patriarch of our family and our business. We will continue to be inspired by this great man. We will miss him more than words can express.
